auto-vectorization

The compiler rewriting a loop to handle several array elements with each instruction (first look; Chapter 31 explains the instructions).

Auto-vectorization transforms a loop so each iteration processes several consecutive elements with SIMD instructions, when the compiler can prove that is equivalent (no overlapping memory, permitted FP reordering).
