Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

dereference

Following a pointer to the value it points at, written *p in C++.

Dereferencing a pointer p (the expression *p) accesses the object at the address p holds; dereferencing nullptr or an invalid address is undefined behaviour.

Examples

  • If p holds 0x2000 and the int there is 7, then *p is 7.
