Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

immediate value

A number written into the instruction itself, like the 42 in mov eax, 42.

An immediate is a constant operand encoded inside the instruction's machine code; each ISA limits its size (x86-64 mostly 32 bits sign-extended, ARM64 12- or 16-bit fields, RISC-V 12 bits signed).

Examples

  • In add rax, 5, the 5 is an immediate: it sits in the instruction's own bytes.
