instruction pipeline
The chain of steps (stages) a pipelined processor passes every instruction through, with a different instruction in each step.
An instruction pipeline is the ordered sequence of pipeline stages in a pipelined processor, from instruction fetch to result write-back, each holding at most one instruction (per lane) per cycle.
