interrupt descriptor table

x86-64's table, set up by the kernel, that lists which handler to run for each numbered exception and interrupt.

The interrupt descriptor table holds 256 gate descriptors indexed by vector number (0 divide error, 13 general protection, 14 page fault, 32-255 for interrupts); its base is loaded with the privileged lidt instruction.
