Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

link register

The register that holds the return address after a call on ARM64 (x30) and RISC-V (ra); x86-64 has none and uses the stack instead.

A link register receives the return address written by a branch-and-link instruction (ARM64 x30, also called lr; RISC-V x1, ra); a function that makes calls of its own must save it first.

Examples

  • ARM64 bl f puts the return address in x30 (lr), and ret jumps back to it.
