structural hazard
A hazard where two instructions need the same piece of hardware in the same cycle, such as one memory port for both fetching an instruction and loading data.
A structural hazard is a resource conflict between instructions in the pipeline; designs remove the common ones by duplicating resources (separate instruction and data caches, multiple register-file ports).
