write-allocate
What a cache does when a store misses: write-allocate fetches the line into the cache first and then changes it; no-write-allocate sends the store on without fetching.
Under write-allocate a store miss brings the block into the cache before updating it (paired with write-back); under no-write-allocate the store bypasses the cache (paired with write-through).
