Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

exponent

The small raised number that says how many times to multiply a base by itself.

In b^n, the exponent n tells you how many times the base b is multiplied by itself: b^3 = b\cdot b\cdot b. Exponents extend to zero, negative, and fractional values via the rules b^0=1, b^{-n}=1/b^n, and b^{1/n}=\sqrt[n]{b}.

Examples

  • 2^5 = 2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot2=32; the exponent is 5, the base is 2.
