Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

exponent

The small raised number telling you how many times to multiply a number by itself.

In a^n, the exponent (or power) n tells you how many times the base a multiplies itself. a^n = \underbrace{a \times a \times \cdots \times a}_{n \text{ times}} for a positive whole number n.

Examples

  • 2^3 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 = 8 — the exponent 3 says "multiply three 2's together."
