period

The smallest positive interval after which a function's pattern repeats exactly.

A function f has period p if f(\theta+p)=f(\theta) for every \theta, and p is the smallest positive number for which that holds. Sine, cosine, secant, and cosecant have period 2\pi; tangent and cotangent repeat twice as often, with period \pi.
