instance segmentation
Labeling every pixel by class and separating each individual object instance from every other.
Instance segmentation assigns every pixel both a class label and a distinct object-instance identity, so that, unlike semantic segmentation, each of several adjacent same-class objects gets its own separate mask.
Examples
The same street scene, run through an instance segmentation model instead, gives each of the three parked cars its own separate mask and ID.
