assertion

The line in a test that checks the result and fails the test if it's wrong.

An assertion (Assert.Equal, Assert.Throws, ...) compares an actual outcome with the expected one and throws a test failure when they differ.

Examples

  • Assert.Equal(12.50m, total); fails the test, showing both values, if total is anything else.
