build configuration

A named set of build settings, usually Debug for developing and Release for shipping.

A build configuration (Configuration property) selects settings such as optimization and debug symbols; Debug disables optimizations, Release enables them.

Examples

  • dotnet build -c Release builds the Release configuration into bin/Release/.
