DTO

A plain object shaped for data crossing a boundary, like an API response.

A data transfer object carries only the fields a boundary needs; mapping copies entity values into it.

Examples

  • record OrderResponse(int Id, decimal Total, string Status); is what the API sends back, rather than the Order entity itself.
