finalizer

A cleanup method the garbage collector may run some time after an object becomes unreachable.

A finalizer (~TypeName()) is invoked by the runtime on a finalizer thread at an unspecified time after its object becomes unreachable; SafeHandle makes writing one almost never necessary.

Examples

  • ~OrderLog() { } declares a finalizer. You'll meet them in older code; new classes rarely need one.
