framework-dependent deployment

A published app that relies on .NET already being installed; self-contained brings its own copy.

A framework-dependent deployment runs on a shared .NET runtime installed on the target machine; a self-contained deployment bundles the runtime for one runtime identifier.

Examples

  • dotnet publish is framework-dependent by default; dotnet publish -r linux-x64 --self-contained brings its own runtime.
