semantic versioning

Version numbers like 2.4.1 where each part says how big the change was.

Semantic Versioning (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH[-prerelease]) increments MAJOR for breaking changes, MINOR for compatible features, and PATCH for compatible fixes.

Examples

  • From 2.4.1, version 2.4.2 is a fix, 2.5.0 adds features, and 3.0.0 may break your code.
