Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

vanishing gradient

A gradient that shrinks toward zero as it's propagated backward through many layers, stalling learning in early layers.

Examples

  • Multiplying sigmoid's largest slope, 0.25, by itself ten times gives 0.25^{10}\approx0.00000095 -- a gradient about a million times smaller.
