Gaussian kernel
A smoothing kernel whose weights follow a 2D bell curve, tapering from the center.
The Gaussian kernel, H(i,j)\propto e^{-(i^2+j^2)/(2\sigma^2)} normalized to sum to 1, weights the neighborhood center most heavily and tapers smoothly, unlike the box kernel's uniform weights and abrupt cutoff; both are separable.
