padding
Extending an image's border with extra pixels so the kernel window doesn't run off the edge.
Padding extends an image with extra border pixels before filtering, using zero padding (assume 0), replicate padding (repeat the nearest edge pixel), reflect padding (mirror the image back across its edge), or periodic padding (wrap around); valid padding adds none at all, shrinking the output instead.
