deterministic signal
A signal whose values are given exactly by a formula or rule, with no randomness -- the opposite of a random signal.
A deterministic signal is one whose value at every time or sample index is completely fixed by a known rule (a formula, a recorded waveform) -- given the index, there is exactly one possible value. This course studies both deterministic signals (chapters 1-11) and random signals (chapters 12-13), which instead only have a statistical description.
