absolute maximum rating
A limit that must never be exceeded, even briefly, or the part may be damaged.
Absolute maximum ratings are stress limits, not operating conditions: the part is not guaranteed to work up to them, only not to be destroyed. Designs stay inside the recommended operating conditions.
