central

The BLE device that scans and starts connections, usually a phone or gateway.

The central scans for advertisements, initiates connections and usually acts as the GATT client.

Examples

  • A phone that scans, sees the greenhouse sensor and connects to it is the central.

  • An ESP32 on the potting bench that connects to a moisture probe is the central, even though it is an ESP32.
