health gate
The checks, with a deadline, a new image must pass before it is marked valid.
A health gate is the set of runtime checks (connectivity, sensors, peers) and the deadline within which a new image must pass them to be marked valid rather than rolled back.
Examples
A fan controller's health gate checks it joined Wi-Fi, reached the broker and got a heartbeat acknowledged, that sensors read in range, and that it stays up for minutes.
If the checks haven't passed within about five minutes, the gate gives up and rolls back rather than leaving the image on trial forever.
