schema version
A number in a message saying which version of its contract it follows.
A schema version identifies which revision of a message contract a payload follows, so a receiver can accept older shapes and reject or translate incompatible ones.
Examples
Each climate message carries
"v": 1; switchingtemp_ctotemp_fwould be a breaking change, so those messages would carryv = 2while receivers handle both.
