unboxing

Java taking the primitive value out of a wrapper object automatically, as in int x = list.get(0).

An implicit intValue() (or matching xxxValue()) call; unboxing null throws NullPointerException naming that method.

Examples

  • int first = xs.get(0); unboxes; if get returns null, it throws NullPointerException.
