orthogonal set

A collection of vectors, every distinct pair of which is orthogonal.

A set of vectors is an orthogonal set if every pair of distinct vectors in it is orthogonal to every other — \mathbf u_i \cdot \mathbf u_j = 0 whenever i \ne j. The standard basis vectors are the cleanest example: every cross-pairing's dot product collapses to 0 automatically. An orthogonal set of nonzero vectors is automatically linearly independent.
