addition

From P, conclude "P or Q" for any Q.

Addition is the valid form: P; therefore P or Q, where Q may be any statement at all. It is valid because an inclusive "or" claim is true whenever either part is.

Examples

  • "The meeting is Monday. So the meeting is Monday or Tuesday."
