disjunctive normal form

An "or" of "and"s of literals.

A sentence is in disjunctive normal form when it is a disjunction of one or more conjunctions, each of which joins only literals. Every sentence is equivalent to one in DNF, which can be read off its truth table from the rows where it is true.

Examples

  • (P ∧ ¬Q) ∨ (¬P ∧ Q) is in DNF.
