enthymeme
An argument with an unstated premise or conclusion.
An enthymeme is an argument that leaves one of its premises, or its conclusion, unstated because the speaker takes it to be obvious. Reconstruction supplies the missing part.
Examples
"She's a lifeguard, so she can swim" leaves out "every lifeguard can swim."
