predicate term

The class a categorical statement relates its subject to.

In a categorical statement "all S are P" (and the other three forms), the predicate term is P, the word or phrase naming the class the subject class is said to be included in or excluded from.

Examples

  • In "Some cars are electric," the predicate term is "electric things."
