vacuous truth
A conditional that is true only because its antecedent is false.
A conditional is vacuously true when its antecedent is false: on that row the material conditional is true whatever the consequent says.
Examples
"If you finished the marathon in 30 minutes, you get a medal" is vacuously true of everyone.
