Venn diagram

Overlapping circles that picture classes: shading means empty, an X means something is there.

A Venn diagram for categorical logic draws one circle per class. Shading a region says that region has no members; placing an X in a region says it has at least one member; a region with neither says nothing about it.

Examples

  • "No S are P" is drawn by shading the overlap of the S and P circles.

  • "Some S are P" is drawn with an X in that overlap.
