tracing span

A named stretch of work, like one request, that log events are attached to.

In the tracing crate a span records a unit of work with fields and duration; events inside it inherit its context, so logs can be grouped per request.

Examples

  • Inside info_span!("booking", id = 7), info!("seats held") prints INFO booking{id=7}: seats held: the event inherits the span's fields.
