trait bound

A requirement that a type parameter support some trait.

A trait bound (T: Trait) restricts a type parameter to types implementing the trait, which is what lets generic code call that trait's methods.

Examples

  • Without the T: PartialOrd bound, item > limit inside count_above<T> fails with E0369.
