exclusive monitor
The hardware that remembers which address a load-exclusive marked and notices if anyone writes to it before the matching store.
The ARM exclusive monitor (RISC-V: reservation set) records the address range a load-exclusive covers, typically at cache-line granularity, and is cleared by another agent's write, a context switch or certain events; a store-exclusive succeeds only while it is still set.
