relocation type
The part of a relocation entry that says how to compute the value and how many bits to write, for example a 32-bit distance or a full 64-bit address.
A relocation type names the computation and field width of a fix-up, e.g. ELF R_X86_64_PC32 (S + A - P into 32 bits), R_X86_64_64 (S + A into 64 bits), R_AARCH64_CALL26 (a bl's 26-bit word offset), R_RISCV_CALL_PLT; Mach-O and COFF have their own type names for the same ideas.
