text recognition

Converting the pixels inside a detected text region into an actual character string.

Text recognition converts the pixels inside a region a text detector has already found into an actual sequence of characters -- the second stage of an OCR pipeline, run only on the regions text detection already flagged as containing text.

Examples

  • Given the box text detection already drew around a street sign, text recognition converts the pixels inside it into the character string 'MAIN ST'.
