file-based app

A C# program that is just one .cs file, run with dotnet run app.cs.

A file-based app (.NET 10+) is a single .cs file the SDK builds and runs without a separate project file; #: directives at its top can add packages or properties.

Examples

  • dotnet run hello.cs builds and runs one file, with no .csproj anywhere.
