optimistic concurrency
Letting people edit freely, then refusing a save if someone else changed the row first.
Optimistic concurrency checks a concurrency token (such as a version column) in the UPDATE's WHERE clause; zero affected rows raises DbUpdateConcurrencyException.
Examples
Two clerks edit order 42; the second
SaveChangesthrowsDbUpdateConcurrencyExceptioninstead of overwriting the first.
