using directive

A line that lets you use a namespace's types without typing its full name.

A using directive (using System.Text;) imports a namespace's types into scope; global and implicit usings apply one to every file in a project.

Examples

  • using System.Text; at the top of a file lets you write StringBuilder instead of System.Text.StringBuilder.
