Canny edge detector

A five-stage pipeline producing thin, well-localized, reliably-detected edges.

The Canny edge detector targets three design goals (good detection, good localization, single response) via five stages -- Gaussian smoothing, gradient computation, non-maximum suppression, hysteresis thresholding, and edge tracking.
