DHCP
How a device asks the network for an IP address, a gateway and DNS servers when it joins.
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol leases a joining host its IP address, prefix, default gateway and DNS servers for a limited time.
Examples
On joining, the sensor broadcasts a DHCP discover and the router answers with 192.168.1.37, mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1 and a DNS server.
DHCP messages go from client port 68 to server port 67, in a frame to
ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ffbecause the sensor has no address yet.
