downsampling
Replacing many detailed readings with fewer summary ones, such as hourly averages.
Downsampling replaces raw points with per-window aggregates at a coarser resolution, cutting storage while keeping trends.
Examples
Sixty raw greenhouse readings from one hour become a single hourly row holding their count, average, minimum and maximum, and the raw rows are deleted in the same transaction.
