drop policy
The rule for which message to throw away when the offline queue is full.
A drop policy decides what a full queue discards: drop-oldest keeps the most recent readings, drop-newest keeps the earliest ones.
Examples
With 12 readings and 8 slots, drop-oldest keeps readings 7 to 14 (the end of the outage); drop-newest keeps 3 to 10 (the start).
Drop-oldest suits a dashboard that cares most about recent values; drop-newest preserves the moment the outage began.
