test plan

A written list of a release's tests, each with its conditions and a measurable pass criterion.

A test plan lists, for one product release and hardware revision, every test to run, the conditions it runs under, how it is run and the result that counts as a pass, decided before the test runs.

Examples

  • "After the broker restarts, the node reconnects within 60 s and the back end stores every reading from the outage, in order, with no duplicates" is a pass criterion.

  • The bench node's plan has five groups: functional, environmental, power, radio and soak, each test naming the release and hardware revision it ran on.
