Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

orthogonal functions

Two functions whose inner product is zero.

Two functions f,g on [a,b] are orthogonal when \langle f,g\rangle=\int_a^bf(x)g(x)\,dx=0 -- the function-space analog of two perpendicular vectors.

Examples

  • \sin(mx) and \sin(nx) are orthogonal on [-\pi,\pi] for any distinct integers m,n.
