crate

A unit of Rust code the compiler builds at once: a program or a library.

A crate is the unit of compilation: a binary crate (with main) or a library crate, built from one root source file.

Examples

  • cargo new hello makes a binary crate rooted at src/main.rs; cargo new --lib fines makes a library crate rooted at src/lib.rs.
