lint

A check that warns about suspicious code that still compiles.

A lint is a rule the compiler or Clippy applies to warn about code that compiles but is likely wrong or unidiomatic.

Examples

  • rustc's dead_code lint warns "function goodbye is never used"; Clippy adds its own lints, such as println_empty_string.
